Larry Gay is a tractor historian and author. He developed a love for agriculture and a fascination for farm machinery while growing up on an Iowa farm. After receiving his degree in Agricultural Engineering, he worked for Deere & Company for 35 years as a product engineer in two factories and then as Manager of Engineering for John Deere Merchandise. As a long-time collector of farm equipment sales literature and toy tractors, it was an easy transition to start a second career by writing books about farm tractors.Larry Gay was inducted to the 2010 class of American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers Fellows for outstanding contributions to engineering management and product equipment design compatible with the ‘new-generation’ tractor design and for his thorough research and documentation of farm tractors and agricultural equipment industry history.
